The PlayStation network, including the older PS4, performed well in 2022. This list focuses on modern, must-play titles and one recent remaster that is simply too wonderful to pass up.
Don’t worry if you don’t have the money to get a PS5. Sony has published PS4 versions of some of its greatest 2022 titles, such as God of War Ragnarök, Gran Turismo 7, and Horizon: Forbidden West, because of the persistent difficulties in getting PS5s in stock. That trend, though, may eventually fade as Sony shifts its attention to the newest, more powerful platform.
To get the most out of this incredible game available on PS4, it is recommended that players install a VPN for PS4. Whether you play on your console or PC, having a VeePN is essential if you want to access a new game that isn’t available in your region.
1. Gran Turismo 7
If you like cars and jazz, this is the game for you. Gran Turismo 7 seems to be the latest incarnation of the vehicle driving game, and it allows you to get even deeper into your car addiction than ever. The game swiftly provides you with the means to customize automobiles to your taste, and this game distinguishes itself with its story mode, which digs into the past, present, and future of iconic car models as portrayed by the individuals who created them. And, as previously said, it plays music over your gaming.
On the other hand, Gran Turismo 7 includes all of the features you’d expect from a modern racing game, such as online play, a picture mode, and a plethora of customization options for each car type. This game is comfortable to play since it allows you to focus just on your place in the race rather than juggling many objectives as other games do.
2. Neon White
Neon White is ideal for fans of the first-person shooter as well as speeding through stages in the quickest time possible. The game has fantastic aesthetics and pleasant music, but the centerpiece is the rapid, responsive action that promotes repeats to surpass time trial records established by your online buddies.
Neon White contains hundreds of entertaining levels, each meticulously designed with power-ups and adversaries. The true enjoyment begins when you learn to grasp each level’s layout, making you feel like a speed-running magician. This book is less pricey than many others on this list, charging $24.99. It is available for both the PS5 and the PS4.
3. Horizon: Forbidden West
Horizon Zero Dawn 2 was released on PS5 and PS4 in mid-2022, extending on the first action adventure with a larger setting and plot. To properly appreciate the stakes, you should experience the original game first, like with every sequel. However, if you want to jump right into the sequel, this newer game includes a detailed rehash of the previous entry. No one can criticize you since Forbidden West offers additional gameplay modifications as well as more eye candy in the form of life people and landscapes. It should be noted that this is a single-player game with no multiplayer components.
4. God of War: Ragnorök
God of War Ragnorök is another sequel worth playing on this list. It takes place immediately after the end scene of the 2018 God of War release (it provides a recap, but you need to seek out a YouTube synopsis as the recap is not detailed).
While the third-person action gameplay in Ragnorök is similar to that of its predecessor, the plot is significantly more ambitious. Kratos is attempting to persuade his young son, Atreus, not to pursue a seductive road of finding his divinity and defying prophesy. Things do not always go as expected, but that is what makes the game so enjoyable. God of War Ragnorök is accessible on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
5. Stray
While the majority of the games on this list put you in charge of a vengeful humanoid, Stray puts you in control of a cat. That alone may be enough to entice cat lovers to play. There’s even a specific “meow” button. Stray, though, is a fantastic game beneath the charm. It’s a puzzle-based stealth game in which you must view answers as a cat would and sometimes flee a species. During the seven-hour adventure, you’ll meet other cats and a lovely robot that will aid you with puzzles and finally translate your cat conversation. Stray is a PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 game.
6. The Witcher III: Wild Hunt
Since this game did not come out in 2022, its massive free next-generation patch did. On the PS5, The Witcher III: Wild Hunt now has ray-traced visuals, shorter loading times, and other improvements, making it the greatest time to play. This game was initially released on the PS4 by CD Projekt Red in 2015, and it was a spectacular feat at the time – and it still is. It’s one of the few open-world RPGs with a large area worth exploring in-depth and interesting, memorable quests that should keep you entertained for hundreds of hours.
If you can’t decide Between Witcher III: Wild Hunt and CD Projekt Red’s newer, flashier videogame Cyberpunk 2077, I highly recommend starting with the former. It’s a more refined and enjoyable experience.
7. The Last of Us Part I
The Last of Us has evolved from a video game to its own HBO TV program, which will premiere in early 2023. Naughty Dog upgraded The Last of Us for PS5 to prepare audiences for the survival-horror scenario that will most likely be shown in the program. The game was first released on the PlayStation 3 in 2013.
The Last of Us Part I is now available on the PS5 and will be released on the PC in 2023. It’s a dark and violent game narrated from Joel and Ellie’s point of view as they try to pound their way through a zombie-like apocalypse in search of a cure to rescue mankind.
8. Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection
Naughty Dog upgraded its two Uncharted PS4 games for the PS5, offering improved visuals, shorter loading times, and some excellent haptic feedback on the DualSense controller. The Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection comprises Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, with the former serving as the most recent (and perhaps last) act in the main Uncharted narrative arc. The Lost Legacy is a smaller adventure that focuses on side characters in a new setting and is just as enjoyable.
If you appreciate Indiana Jones-style tomb raiding, puzzle solving, and witty characters, this is a compilation you won’t regret buying. This collection is available on the PlayStation 5 and PC.
9. Elden Ring
